ALEXA MEADE │ ALL LIFE IN COLORS
The Los Angeles-based artist Alexa Meade (b. 1986, Washington, DC) first sought a career on Capitol Hill after studying political science and joining the Obama campaign in 2008. She discovered by accident in 2009 a new technique for painting on people and objects in such a way that the photographic image gives the impression of a continuous painted surface. She uses paint on the surfaces of three-dimensional forms to reinterpret them as flat, two-dimensional representations of themselves. Her art integrates the genres of painting, photography, performance and installation. The result questions our viewing habits and allows us to rethink our own perception as well as the truth of images in general.
Alexa has had exhibitions and performances in all international art metropolises. Her third solo exhibition at the Galerie für Fotografie der Gegenwart, Munich, focuses on works from the years 2016–2017, but there are also a few fine art prints from her early work on exhibit, not yet shown in Munich.
